Wow!! I love the water. Also I like that the reflection is in focus even though the water around it is not. Could be a little sharper though, just apply a sharpening filter before resizing for the internet.

Poohblah: Thanks for the critique. I increased the sharpness just a tiny bit more… a few % more.... unlike the other birds in my gallery, I intentionally didn’t put much sharpening on this one, (and there still isn’t much). It doesn’t seam to "fit" this bird to be too sharp; to me it's a, soft, slowly & graciously moving bird.

I'd like more points of view on this.

@ Poohblah : why sharpening before resizing ? the resizing "destroy" the effect of sharpening, you have to do it after the resizing
(this had nothing to do with any unsharpness of the original picture, only with the unsharpness created by resizing)

A good capture. I like the color saturation. You would be better served by post processing rather than doing it in-camera however as the camera's software does not compare to photo editing software.

Edit: There is now more space at the top. My 1st crop had more space at the top, but I cropped it tighter just before publishing... so back to 1st crop.

lichtstille: Sharpening before resizing is a very good technique, but now with photoshop CS3, you have many different algorithms to size down, so the effect of the sharpening before sizing down differs a lot from one to the other.
